Nutritionist Kate Patton explained that vitamins play a key role in our bodies, saying that we need them to dismantle large nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, and protein and help the body function.
People may take supplements if they know they are missing a particular diet, while others may take supplements for antioxidant benefits or because they know they are not eating enough fruits and vegetables.

Here are five vitamins important to your health, but be sure to talk to your doctor before you start taking any.

vitamin C

We start with vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, a staple nutrient.
